What does psychological therapy involve?
Psychological therapy in the perinatal period is a personalised journey focused on supporting individuals and couples through the challenges associated with pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. Sessions involve collaborative goal-setting, exploring new ways of thinking and behaving, and practising techniques between sessions. Our approach is flexible, adapting to your unique needs.
What is the cancellation policy?
With 48 hours’ notice, there is no cancellation fee. Cancellations made the day before your appointment will incur a 50% session fee, while same-day cancellations will be charged at the full rate. This policy ensures fairness and transparency in our scheduling arrangements.
Where can I read more about your terms and conditions for therapy?
For comprehensive details, including confidentiality policies, please refer to our full Terms & Conditions document. This document outlines our commitment to your comfort, well-being, and positive change throughout your therapeutic journey.
Can therapy help with specific perinatal mental health concerns?
Absolutely. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other perinatal mental health challenges, our therapy is tailored to address your unique needs. We employ evidence-based approaches to support your emotional well-being.
How do I know if psychological therapy is right for me?
We encourage an initial consultation to discuss your concerns, goals, and whether perinatal psychology therapy aligns with your needs. This collaborative conversation helps determine the suitability of our approach for your unique situation.
Are virtual support groups or community resources available for additional connection?
Yes, we can provide information on virtual support groups or community resources that align with your needs. These additional avenues can offer a sense of community and shared experiences.
How long does therapy typically last?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes and the number of sessions of therapy varies based on the specific challenges addressed. While some individuals may find resolution in 6-8 sessions for focused concerns, others may engage in more extensive work over several months. During the first session, we collaboratively outline a treatment plan, estimating the number of sessions needed. We will typically meet on a weekly basis.
How can I access support on the NHS?
The NHS offers significant support for those in the perinatal period. If you prefer NHS treatment, consult your GP, Midwife or Health Visitor. In addition you could consider a self-referral to your local Talking Therapies Service (Previously know as Improving Access to Psychological Therapies).
These services prioritise prompt appointments for birthing people in the perinatal period. We are happy to assist you if you encounter difficulties navigating the NHS system.
Are there resources or reading materials you recommend for additional support?
Yes, we can provide recommended readings and resources to complement your therapeutic journey. These materials can offer additional insights and support between sessions.
